We appraise antique, newly made and art quilts.
Our appraisals are confidential so scheduling an appointment of
20 minutes (one for each quilt) is advised. If there is more than
one quilt per owner, we need only 10 minutes per quilt. We can
do written appraisals or verbal consultations. Transportation fees
may be charged if the venue is over one hour from Columbus.
VERBAL CONSULTATION
Given to clarify age, determine possible use
and care of the quilt.
No dollar value is usually given.
WRITTEN APPRAISAL
Given for insurance, donation, or fair market
(resale) values.
History of the quilt from owner is recorded.
Photographs are taken for our records and
that of the owner.
Quilt is examined in detail for fabric, style,
color, pattern, size, quality of construction, quilting description
and condition.
The written appraisal with a photo attached
and care and use guidelines are mailed to owner within two weeks
to allow us time for needed research.
APPRAISAL DAYS/EVENINGS
- FOR YOUR INCOME
Same as above except the charge to your customer
is increased to create income for you.
Verbal consultation - add $2-3 per quilt.
Written appraisals - add $5 per quilt.
SEWING ROOM APPRAISALS
Don't undervalue what you have. As a professional
or a hobbyist, you may have a large investment in your sewing equipment,
fabric, thread, and books. Look around and take a minute to estimate
how much it would cost to replace your quilting "stuff" ...
more than you think (or would like to admit). An appraisal of your
sewing room will accomplish several things:
Help you to organize the contents of the room.
Provide a professional appraisal that is a
legal document for insurance purposes.
Give a greater appreciation of your "stash" etc...
If you are organized and help by pre-counting
small items, 3 hours is very often adequate. Transportation costs
will be billed at the current federal rate.
